1891 Liberty Seated Dime XF

0.0715 troy oz .900 1891 Extra Fine

The 1891 Liberty Seated dime represents the final year of a classic United States coinage era. Struck in 90% fine silver, this ten-cent piece contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. Its creation is credited to Christian Gobrecht, who captured a timeless allegorical image that circulated widely during the nineteenth century. On the obverse side, the figure of Liberty is shown seated upon a rock. In her left hand, she supports a staff topped with a liberty cap, while her right hand rests upon a shield inscribed with the word LIBERTY. The year 1891 is clearly positioned below this central figure. This particular specimen is preserved in Extra Fine condition, showcasing the finer details of Gobrecht's engraving with minimal wear. The reverse of the coin focuses on the denomination, displaying the words ONE DIME. This text is encircled by a detailed, lush wreath that fills the coin's field. Encircling the entire reverse design is the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, marking this as an official sovereign issue backed by the United States government.
