The 1891 Liberty Seated Quarter represents the final year of a classic American coinage era. Struck in 90 percent silver with a metal content of 0.1788 troy ounces, this twenty-five cent piece showcases the artistic vision of Christian Gobrecht. The obverse features Liberty resting on a rock, her gaze directed to the left. In her hand, she holds a staff topped by a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom, while thirteen stars encircle her to represent the original colonies. The year 1891 is anchored at the bottom of the design. On the reverse, a powerful eagle faces left, its breast protected by a shield. The bird grips an olive branch in its right talon, symbolizing peace, and three arrows in its left talon, representing readiness for defense. The inscriptions on this side include the issuing nation, the United States of America, and the denomination, which is abbreviated as Quarter Dollar.
