The 1891-S Liberty Seated Quarter represents the final year of a classic American coinage era. Minted in San Francisco, this 90% silver coin contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. Having survived over a century in circulation, this piece is graded in Very Good condition, displaying the honest wear of a coin that actively passed through the hands of late nineteenth-century Americans. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the obverse of the coin features Lady Liberty seated on a rock. In her right hand, she supports a shield, while her left hand holds a staff topped with a liberty cap. The year 1891 is inscribed below the seated figure. On the reverse, an eagle is depicted with a shield across its chest, clutching three arrows and an olive branch in its talons.
