The 1891-S Liberty Seated quarter represents the final year of a historic United States coinage design. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. Its preservation in Extra Fine condition allows observers to appreciate the intricate details of a design that defined American coinage for over half a century. On the obverse, the figure of Liberty is depicted seated on a rock, holding a staff topped with a liberty cap in one hand while her other hand rests on a shield inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, this elegant representation of freedom is surrounded by thirteen stars along the rim, with the year 1891 anchored at the bottom. The reverse features a powerful eagle perched upon an olive branch, clutching three arrows in its talons to represent both peace and readiness. A shield is positioned across the eagle's chest, mirroring the shield on the obverse.
