The year 1892 marked a significant transition in United States coinage with the introduction of a new dime design by Charles Barber. Struck in 90 percent silver, this ten-cent piece represents the inaugural year of a design that would circulate widely across the nation during a period of rapid industrial growth. On the obverse side, the profile of Lady Liberty faces right, adorned with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap.
