The year 1892 marked the debut of a new aesthetic for United States silver coinage. Designed by Charles Barber, this twenty-five cent piece represents the initial release of a design series that would circulate for over two decades. Struck in 90% silver at the Philadelphia Mint, this issue contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse features a profile of Lady Liberty facing right, adorned with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. The word LIBERTY is visible on her headband, while the motto IN GOD WE TRUST appears above her head, flanked by stars. The year of production, 1892, is anchored at the bottom of the design. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle spreads its wings, bearing a shield across its chest. The bird holds an olive branch of peace in one claw and a bundle of arrows in the other, symbolizing readiness. In its beak, the eagle grasps a scroll inscribed with the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. Thirteen stars hover above the eagle, framed by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR.
