1892-S Barber Quarter Good
Struck during the inaugural year of a classic American coinage era, this 1892 quarter dollar represents the early work of the San Francisco Mint. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. It displays the characteristic wear of a piece that circulated heavily, classified in Good condition, where the outer rims and reverse details have softened over time. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin showcases a profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath. The year 1892 is stamped below her portrait, while the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is positioned above her. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle spreads its wings, bearing a shield across its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a decorative banner, while its talons grasp an olive branch and a bundle of arrows. The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "QUARTER DOLLAR" frame this classic national motif, with the "S" mint mark indicating its origin at the San Francisco facility.
