1893 Barber Dime AG

0.0715 troy oz .900 1893 Almost Good

This 10 cent piece from 1893 represents a classic era of United States coinage, minted in Philadelphia with a metal composition of 90 percent silver. Containing 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal, this dime belongs to the celebrated Barber series, named after its creator, Charles Barber. The obverse of the coin displays a profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath. Surrounding her image are the legible portions of the national inscription, alongside the clear date of 1893 at the bottom. On the reverse, the words ONE DIME are encircled by a detailed wreath. Having circulated heavily through daily commerce, this coin is graded in Almost Good condition. This long journey is visible in its physical state, as the obverse rim shows significant wear, while the reverse rim and its central details are also heavily worn. These soft, smooth surfaces tell a silent story of the countless hands this silver dime passed through during the late nineteenth century and beyond.
