1893-O Barber Dime Good

0.0715 troy oz .900 1893 Good

Struck in 1893 at the historic New Orleans Mint, this ten-cent piece represents a classic era of United States coinage. Crafted from 90% silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. It belongs to the celebrated Barber series, named after its creator, Charles Barber, who designed both the front and back of the coin. The obverse features a profile of Lady Liberty adorned with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. While the rim remains complete, the word 'Liberty' on her headband is no longer visible due to honest wear over the decades. Surrounding her portrait is the legend 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' alongside the 1893 year of issue. On the reverse, a detailed wreath encircles the face value of 'ONE DIME'. The New Orleans 'O' mint mark is located below the wreath, indicating its Southern origin. The rim on this side may show slight weakness, which is characteristic of its well-traveled history and its certified Good condition.
