This ten cent piece from 1893 represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Minted in New Orleans, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.0723 troy ounces of the precious metal. Surviving in Very Fine condition, it offers a clear look at a design that circulated widely at the end of the nineteenth century. The obverse of the coin presents a profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a laurel wreath atop her head along with a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom. In this graded state of preservation, a portion of the word "Liberty" remains visible on her headband, surrounded by the stars and the date of production. On the reverse, the denomination of "ONE DIME" is featured prominently in the center. This text is encircled by a detailed wreath that fills the field, showcasing the intricate engraving work of the era.
