Struck in the final decade of the nineteenth century, this 10-cent silver piece represents a classic era of United States coinage. Minted in San Francisco in 1893, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.0723 troy ounces of precious metal. Even in a worn, Very Good state of preservation, the coin retains its essential design elements, offering a tangible connection to late-nineteenth-century commerce. The obverse features a profile of Lady Liberty, who wears a laurel wreath atop a Phrygian cap. On this specific example, a portion of the word "Liberty" remains visible on her headband, a key detail for this grade. Surrounding her portrait is the legend indicating the United States of America as the issuing nation, along with the 1893 date of manufacture. On the reverse side, the denomination of "ONE DIME" is centrally positioned, encircled by a traditional wreath of various agricultural leaves. The San Francisco mint mark, a small "S", is located at the bottom of the design, indicating its origin at the prominent West Coast minting facility.
