The 1893-S Barber half dollar represents a fascinating survivor from the late nineteenth century, minted at the San Francisco branch of the United States Mint. Struck in 90 percent silver with a total silver content of 0.3575 troy ounces, this fifty-cent piece carries the distinct wear of a coin that spent decades in active circulation. Now graded in Almost Good condition, its heavily worn surfaces tell a story of everyday commerce during a bygone era. Created by designer Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a classical profile of Lady Liberty. Her head is adorned with a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath, symbols deeply rooted in ancient imagery. Above her head, the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, while the year 1893 is anchored at the bottom of the design.
