The year 1893 saw the production of this silver quarter at the San Francisco Mint, bearing the distinctive artistry of Charles Barber. Struck in 90% fine silver with a precious metal content of 0.17875 troy ounces, this coin belongs to a beloved era of American coinage. On the obverse, the profile of Lady Liberty is depicted wearing a laurel wreath over a Phrygian cap. While the rim remains mostly intact, the passage of time has softened the details, rendering the word Liberty on her headband no longer visible. The reverse side presents a heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide, shielding its chest. In its talons, the eagle grasps a bundle of arrows alongside an olive branch, symbolizing both strength and peace, while holding a ribbon in its beak.
