This 1894 half dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage, minted with a silver purity of 90 percent. Containing 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin carries the wear of many decades, certified in Almost Good condition. This level of circulation tells a story of everyday commerce in the late nineteenth century, where such coins passed through countless hands. The obverse features a profile of Lady Liberty, who wears a laurel wreath atop her head along with a Phrygian cap. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed above her, with the year 1894 anchored at the bottom. Designed by Charles Barber, this portrait became a staple of American pocket change during the turn of the century. On the reverse, a detailed heraldic eagle spreads its wings wide. A protective shield is positioned at the center of its chest, while the bird grasps an olive branch in one claw and a bundle of arrows in the other.
