Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1894 silver quarter represents a classic era of United States coinage. Minted in Philadelphia, the coin is composed of 90% silver, containing approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. Even in an Almost Good state of preservation, the fundamental elements of its historic imagery remain recognizable, carrying the unmistakable character of a coin that saw active circulation in daily American commerce. The obverse of the quarter presents a profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap underneath a laurel wreath, a classic symbol of freedom and victory. Above her profile, the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, while the year 1894 is anchored at the bottom of the design. On the reverse side, a heraldic eagle dominates the field with its wings spread wide. A protective shield is positioned over the bird's chest. In its beak, the eagle grasps a ribbon banner, while its talons hold both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, representing the dual themes of peace and military readiness. The surrounding inscription identifies the issuing nation as the United States of America and states the denomination as one quarter dollar.
