1894 Barber Quarter AU
Introduced in the late nineteenth century, this silver quarter dollar from 1894 showcases the classic artistry of Charles Barber. Struck in 90 percent silver, the coin contains approximately 0.1808 troy ounces of precious metal, representing a standard era of United States circulating coinage before 1933. This specific piece survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the fine details of its original engraving. The obverse features a profile of Lady Liberty, who wears a laurel wreath atop her head along with a traditional Phrygian cap. The word LIBERTY is clearly visible on her band, surrounded by the year 1894 and the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST. On the reverse, a powerful eagle is depicted with wings fully spread, bearing a protective shield on its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a ribbon inscribed with E PLURIBUS UNUM, while its talons grasp an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing both peace and readiness. The surrounding text reads UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR.
