Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1894 silver quarter represents a classic era of United States coinage. Minted at the historic New Orleans facility, as indicated by its "O" mint mark, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. It survives today in Fine condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation while retaining its essential design details. The obverse presents a stoic profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, a classic symbol of victory and honor. Above her head, the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, while the year 1894 is stamped clearly below her portrait. On the reverse, a detailed heraldic eagle commands attention. The eagle is depicted with wings spread wide, protecting a shield positioned at its chest. In its beak, it holds a banner displaying the words "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Its talons grasp an olive branch of peace and a cluster of arrows, representing strength and readiness. The surrounding inscriptions identify the issuing nation as the "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and denote the face value as "QUARTER DOLLAR."
