1894-O Barber Quarter VG
Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1894 silver quarter dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Minted at the historic New Orleans facility, as indicated by its 'O' mint mark, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. The obverse presents the profile of Lady Liberty, who wears a laurel wreath atop her head along with a traditional Phrygian cap. Above her image, the motto 'IN GOD WE TRUST' is inscribed, while the year 1894 is positioned directly below her portrait. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, protecting a shield on its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner, while its talons grasp both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows. The surrounding inscriptions read 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' and 'QUARTER DOLLAR', framing this enduring piece of American numismatic history. This specimen survives in Very Good condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation while retaining its essential design elements.
