This 1895 silver half dollar is a classic example of United States coinage from the late nineteenth century. Struck with a purity of 0.900 silver, the coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal (with a total silver content of 0.3617 ounces). This particular specimen is preserved in Almost Good condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that circulated widely during the Gilded Age. The obverse features a profile of Lady Liberty, designed by Charles Barber. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath, surrounded by the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the 1895 date. On the reverse, a bold heraldic eagle dominates the design. The eagle is shown with outstretched wings and a protective shield across its chest. In its beak, it holds a ribbon banner, while its talons grasp an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing both peace and defense. The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR" frame this powerful national emblem.
