1895 Barber Half Dollar VG

0.3575 troy oz .900 1895 Very Good

The 1895 Barber half dollar represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Struck in 90 percent silver, this fifty-cent piece carries a total of 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Designed by Charles Barber, the coin is characterized by its bold, traditional imagery and has survived more than a century to show its enduring design elements today. The obverse presents a profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, and the word LIBERTY is inscribed upon her headband. The design is framed by a full, defined rim. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle spreads its wings, protecting a shield on its chest. The eagle holds a symbolic olive branch in one claw and a cluster of arrows in the other, while clutching a banner in its beak. This side is also framed by a complete rim, preserving the classic layout of this nineteenth-century coin.
