This 1895 silver half dollar offers a tangible connection to late nineteenth-century American commerce. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. Having survived decades of active circulation, it is preserved in Almost Good condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that passed through countless hands. The coin features the classic artwork of Charles Barber. On the obverse, a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty is depicted wearing a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. The reverse presents a heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide, protecting a shield on its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner, while its talons grasp a cluster of arrows and an olive branch, representing both strength and peace.
