The 1895 Barber half dollar, struck at the San Francisco Mint, carries the distinct character of a coin that saw extensive circulation during the late nineteenth century. Minted in 90% silver, this piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Having achieved a grade of Good, its surfaces show the honest wear of a coin that actively passed through the hands of everyday Americans during a bygone era. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse presents a classic profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath, symbols of freedom and victory that defined the coinage of this period. Above her image, the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is partially visible, while the year 1895 is anchored at the bottom. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle commands attention with its wings spread wide. A protective shield is positioned at its chest, while the bird grasps an olive branch in one claw and a cluster of arrows in the other, representing the dual ideals of peace and defense. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner, all framed by the surrounding inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the denomination "HALF DOLLAR."
