1895-S Barber Quarter Good

0.1788 troy oz .900 1895 Good

The 1895 Barber Quarter, struck at the San Francisco Mint, represents a classic era of American silver coinage. This piece, composed of 90 percent silver with approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal, shows the honest wear of a coin graded in Good condition, carrying the marks of its journey through late nineteenth-century commerce. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse displays the profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a laurel wreath atop her head, nestled over a Phrygian cap, with the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" positioned above her image. The year 1895 is clearly struck at the bottom of the design. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle stretches its wings wide, protecting a shield across its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a decorative banner, while its talons grasp a symbolic olive branch and a cluster of arrows. The San Francisco "S" mint mark resides below this central motif, identifying its origin at the western mint.
