1895-S Barber Quarter VG
Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1895 silver quarter dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Minted at the San Francisco branch, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. It survives today in Very Good condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that actively circulated in the American economy. The coin features the artistic work of Charles Barber. On the obverse, a proud profile of Lady Liberty faces right, her hair adorned with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. Above her head, the timeless motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, with the year 1895 anchored at the bottom. The reverse side presents a formal heraldic eagle with its wings fully spread. A protective shield covers the bird's chest, while its beak holds a scroll. In its talons, the eagle grasps both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, representing the dual concepts of peace and military readiness. The inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" arches over the design, with the "QUARTER DOLLAR" denomination anchoring the bottom.
