In 1896, the United States Mint produced a silver half dollar that showcases the distinct artistry of the late nineteenth century. Struck with a silver purity of 90 percent, this fifty-cent piece carries a precious metal content of approximately 0.3617 troy ounces, representing a classic era of American circulating coinage. The obverse of the coin displays a dignified profile of Lady Liberty. Designed by Charles Barber, she is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath, symbols deeply rooted in classical imagery. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed above her portrait, with the year 1896 anchored at the bottom. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle commands attention.
