1896-S Barber Dime Good

The Barber dime series remains a classic representation of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Minted in 1896 at the San Francisco branch, this ten-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Having circulated heavily through the commerce of its era, this specimen is preserved in a worn but highly recognizable Good condition, carrying the tangible character of a bygone era. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath. The surrounding inscription reads "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" alongside the 1896 year of issue. On the reverse, the denomination "ONE DIME" is prominently displayed, encircled by a detailed wreath that showcases the agricultural motifs popular in late Victorian design. The small "S" mint mark beneath the wreath signifies its origin from the West Coast minting facility.
