1897-O Barber Dime AG
This silver dime from 1897 represents a fascinating era in United States coinage. Struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, the coin carries the distinctive 'O' mint mark, signaling its southern origin. Crafted from 90 percent silver, this piece contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal and belongs to the celebrated Barber series, which circulated widely at the turn of the twentieth century. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin depicts Lady Liberty facing right, adorned with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. On the reverse, a lush wreath encircles the face value of the coin, which reads 'ONE DIME'. Having survived decades of active circulation, this specimen is graded in Almost Good condition. The passage of time and commerce has left its mark, with the obverse rim showing noticeable wear, while the reverse rim and its central details are heavily worn. This smooth, heavily circulated appearance tells a silent story of the countless hands this small silver piece passed through during its time in daily commerce.
