1897-S Barber Dime Good

0.0715 troy oz .900 1897 Good

Struck in the final years of the nineteenth century, this 1897 ten-cent piece from the San Francisco Mint represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin showcases the artistry of Charles Barber. The obverse presents a profile of Lady Liberty adorned with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. On examples worn to a Good grade, the word 'Liberty' is no longer visible, though a full rim remains intact. The reverse features a traditional wreath enclosing the denomination of one dime, where the outer rim may appear slightly weak due to circulation. This piece carries the clear inscriptions of its era, including the year 1897, the country of origin, and the face value.
