1897-S Barber Dime VF
The 1897 Barber dime represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this ten cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Kept in a Very Fine state of preservation, the coin retains its structural integrity, including a complete, well-defined rim on its reverse side. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin showcases a profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath. A small, distinct band on her crown displays the word LIBERTY. Surrounding her portrait are the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the year of issue, 1897. The reverse side of the coin shifts focus to the face value, featuring the words ONE DIME boldly centered. This denomination is encircled by a detailed wreath, which serves as the primary visual element on the back of the coin. Collectors and history enthusiasts alike can appreciate the balance of classical imagery and clear engraving that defines this late nineteenth-century issue.
