1898-O Barber Half Dollar AG
Struck in 90% fine silver at the historic New Orleans Mint, this 1898 half dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Even in Almost Good condition, the coin retains the essential elements of its late nineteenth-century artistry, carrying a metal content of approximately 0.3575 troy ounces of pure silver. The obverse presents Charles Barber's depiction of Lady Liberty, who wears a laurel wreath over a Phrygian cap. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed above her portrait, with the 1898 year of issue positioned below. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle stretches its wings, protecting a shield on its chest. The eagle holds a banner in its beak, while its claws grasp an olive branch and a cluster of arrows, symbolizing both peace and readiness.
