0.0715 troy oz .900 1899 Almost Unc

This 10 cent piece from 1899 represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Surviving in Almost Uncirculated condition, it retains much of the original detail that was stamped into its surfaces over a century ago. The obverse design, created by Charles Barber, presents a dignified portrait of Lady Liberty. She is shown facing right, wearing a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap, with a headband displaying the word LIBERTY. Surrounding her portrait is the inscription of the issuing nation, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, along with the 1899 date of manufacture. On the reverse, a delicate wreath of agricultural elements frames the central denomination. The words ONE DIME are boldly struck in the center, creating a balanced and functional design that served everyday commerce at the turn of the twentieth century.
