0.0715 troy oz .900 1899 Very Fine

Struck in the final year of the nineteenth century, this ten cent piece represents a classic era of United States coinage. It is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Having circulated enough to be graded in Very Fine condition, the coin retains clear details of its intricate engraving, showcasing the artistry of its creator, Charles Barber. The front of the coin displays a proud profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional laurel wreath over a Phrygian cap, with the word LIBERTY clearly inscribed upon her headband. Surrounding her portrait are the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the year 1899. On the reverse side, a detailed agricultural wreath frames the face value. The words ONE DIME are positioned directly in the center of this wreath, creating a balanced and elegant design that defined American pocket change at the turn of the century.
