1899-O Barber Dime Good

0.0715 troy oz .900 1899 Good

The year 1899 brought forth this silver dime from the historic New Orleans Mint, bearing the distinctive 'O' mint mark. Struck with a silver purity of 90 percent, this coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents the Barber design era, named for its creator Charles Barber, which dominated United States minor silver coinage at the turn of the twentieth century. On the obverse side, the profile of Lady Liberty is depicted wearing a classic laurel wreath over a Phrygian cap. While the word 'Liberty' is not visible on this worn, Good-grade specimen, the coin retains a full rim on the front. The reverse features a traditional agricultural wreath that encircles the face value of 'ONE DIME'. On this side, the outer rim may appear slightly weak due to its time in circulation, yet the overall design captures a tangible sense of late nineteenth-century American commerce.
