1899-O Barber Dime VF

0.0715 troy oz .900 1899 Very Fine

The 1899 Barber dime offers a fascinating look at late nineteenth-century American coinage. Minted in New Orleans, this ten-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Surviving in Very Fine condition, it retains much of the crisp detail originally envisioned by its creator, Charles Barber. The obverse of the coin presents a classic depiction of Lady Liberty. She is shown facing right, adorned with a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath. A small ribbon on her cap bears the inscription "Liberty." Surrounding her likeness are the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" alongside the year 1899. On the reverse, the coin features a simple yet elegant design. A lush wreath encircles the face value, which is written out as "ONE DIME." Beneath the wreath, the "O" mint mark proudly identifies this piece as a product of the historic Louisiana facility.
