Struck at the Philadelphia Mint at the turn of the twentieth century, this 1900 half dollar belongs to the celebrated Barber series. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains approximately 0.3617 troy ounces of precious metal. Its current state of preservation is classified as Very Fine, showcasing a pleasing level of detail that survived decades of circulation. The obverse presents a classic profile of Lady Liberty, who wears a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. A band across her crown is clearly inscribed with the word "LIBERTY." This side also bears the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," along with the 1900 date of manufacture. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle commands attention with its wings spread wide. A protective shield is positioned over its chest, while the bird grasps a banner in its beak inscribed with "E PLURIBUS UNUM." In its talons, the eagle clutches an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, representing the dual themes of peace and military readiness.
