Struck at the historic New Orleans Mint at the turn of the twentieth century, this 1900 silver dime represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted with a composition of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. It stands as a tangible survivor from a time when silver coins circulated daily in the pockets of citizens. The obverse displays the profile of Lady Liberty, who wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath. On this Very Fine specimen, the word Liberty remains visible on her headband, surrounded by the country of origin and the year 1900. Charles Barber created this iconic design, which defined the look of United States minor coinage for over two decades. On the reverse, a lush agricultural wreath frames the denomination. The words ONE DIME are centered within the wreath, while the distinctive O mint mark of the New Orleans facility is positioned below.
