1900-O Barber Half Dollar AG

0.3575 troy oz .900 1900 Almost Good

Struck in the final year of the nineteenth century, this silver half dollar carries the distinctive artistry of Charles Barber. Minted at the historic New Orleans facility, as indicated by the O mint mark, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. The obverse presents the profile of Lady Liberty, adorned with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. Above her head, the national motto reads IN GOD WE TRUST, while the year 1900 is anchored at the bottom. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle stretches its wings, bearing a shield across its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a ribbon, while its talons grasp an olive branch and a bundle of arrows. Although this specimen shows significant wear from its time in circulation, particularly on the reverse details, it remains a fascinating artifact of early twentieth-century American coinage.
