1900-O Barber Half Dollar Fine

0.3575 troy oz .900 1900 Fine

Struck at the historic New Orleans Mint at the turn of the twentieth century, this 1900 half dollar belongs to the celebrated Barber series. Composed of 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.3575 troy ounces, this fifty-cent piece carries a total mintage of 2,744,000. It survives today in Fine condition, showing honest wear that highlights its long journey through American commerce. The obverse features a classical depiction of Liberty facing right, adorned with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. The year 1900 is clearly visible beneath the portrait. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle stands with outstretched wings, protecting a shield on its chest. In its beak, the eagle grasps a banner, while its talons hold an olive branch and a bundle of arrows. The distinctive 'O' mint mark of the New Orleans facility is positioned below the eagle, marking its southern origin.
