1900-O Barber Quarter VF
The turn of the twentieth century brought forth this silver quarter dollar, minted in 1900 at the historic New Orleans Mint. Struck in 0.900 fine silver with a precious metal content of 0.17875 troy ounces, this coin belongs to the celebrated series designed by Charles Barber. Surviving in Very Fine condition, it offers a clear look at the artistry of a bygone era of American coinage. The obverse of the coin presents a profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath, surrounded by stars and the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" along the upper border, with the date 1900 positioned at the bottom. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle spreads its wings wide, protecting a shield on its chest. The eagle holds a banner inscribed with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" in its beak, while its talons grasp an olive branch and a bundle of arrows. The mint mark "O" is positioned below the eagle, identifying its origin in New Orleans, flanked by the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR" and the country name "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."
