1900-O Barber Quarter XF
The turn of the twentieth century brought forth this silver quarter dollar, struck at the historic New Orleans Mint in 1900. Crafted from 0.900 fine silver, this piece contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a classic era of American coinage, carrying the distinctive 'O' mint mark of the Southern branch mint. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, a design elements that defined this circulating series. The word 'LIBERTY' is visible on her headband, while the motto 'IN GOD WE TRUST' arches above her head, flanked by stars. The reverse displays a detailed heraldic eagle with outstretched wings, protecting a shield at its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner inscribed with 'E PLURIBUS UNUM'. Its talons grasp an olive branch and a cluster of arrows, symbolizing both peace and readiness. The inscriptions 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' and 'QUARTER DOLLAR' frame this traditional national motif.
