The turn of the twentieth century brought forth this silver ten-cent piece from the San Francisco Mint. Struck in 1900, this Barber dime carries a composition of 90 percent silver, representing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Despite showing the heavy wear of its long journey through American commerce, the coin retains the essential elements of its original turn-of-the-century design. Created by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin depicts Lady Liberty facing right. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, a classic motif of the era. Surrounding her profile are the remnants of the national inscription, with the year 1900 anchored at the bottom of the design. On the reverse, a detailed agricultural wreath encircles the face value, which is written out as ONE DIME. Beneath the bow of the wreath, the distinct 'S' mint mark indicates its origin at the San Francisco facility. This coin is preserved in Almost Good condition, offering a tangible look at a heavily circulated survivor from a bygone era of United States coinage.
