1900-S Barber Half Dollar Good

The year 1900 marked the turn of a new century, and from the San Francisco Mint came this silver fifty-cent piece. Designed by Charles Barber, this half dollar is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. As a coin that has survived more than one hundred years, it displays a heavily circulated state, with worn details and a rim that may show slight wear from its long journey through American commerce. On the obverse side, the profile of Lady Liberty faces right, adorned with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is positioned above her, with the date 1900 stamped below. The reverse side presents a powerful heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide. A protective shield rests upon the eagle's chest, while its beak holds a flowing banner. In its talons, the bird grasps an olive branch and a cluster of arrows, symbolizing both peace and readiness. The inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" arches over the design, with the "HALF DOLLAR" denomination anchored at the bottom.
