Bearing the distinctive mint mark S, this coin is a tangible survivor of that transitional era in American history. Designed by Charles Barber, the coin features a dignified depiction of Lady Liberty on its obverse. She wears a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom.
