1901 Barber Dime Fine

The turn of the twentieth century brought a distinct aesthetic to American coinage, beautifully captured in this 1901 silver dime. Minted in Philadelphia, this ten-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. This specimen survives in Fine condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that actively circulated during a bustling era of American development. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a classic profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional laurel wreath over a Phrygian cap, a symbol deeply rooted in classical concepts of freedom. Surrounding her portrait is the bold inscription of the issuing nation, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, with the year 1901 anchored at the bottom. On the reverse, the coin features a lush, detailed agricultural wreath that wraps around the central denomination. The words ONE DIME are clearly struck at the center, framed by the foliage.
