1901 Barber Quarter Fine

0.1788 troy oz .900 1901 Fine

The turn of the twentieth century brought a distinct aesthetic to American coinage, beautifully captured in the 1901 Barber Quarter. Struck in 90% fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin represents a classic era of United States currency design. It contains approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal, offering a tactile connection to the circulating money of the early 1900s. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the quarter displays a regal portrait of Lady Liberty. She faces right, adorned with a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath resting on her hair. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed above her image, with the year 1901 anchored at the bottom. The reverse of the coin features a powerful heraldic eagle with wings fully spread. A protective shield sits across its chest, while its beak firmly holds a banner. In its talons, the eagle grasps both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing a balance of peace and readiness. The surrounding inscription reads "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" alongside the "QUARTER DOLLAR" denomination.
