1901 Barber Quarter Good/VG

0.1788 troy oz .900 1901 Good/Very Good

The 1901 Barber quarter represents a classic era of United States coinage, minted in 90% fine silver with a precious metal weight of 0.17875 troy ounces. Produced at the Philadelphia mint, this twenty-five cent piece showcases the distinct artistic vision of its creator, Charles Barber, whose work defined American pocket change at the turn of the twentieth century. On the obverse side, a dignified profile of Lady Liberty faces right. She is adorned with a traditional laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap, symbols deeply rooted in classical imagery. The year 1901 is inscribed below her portrait, while the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" arches above her head. The reverse side presents a bold heraldic eagle with its wings fully spread. A protective shield rests against the bird's chest as it firmly grips an olive branch of peace in one claw and a bundle of arrows in the other. In its beak, the eagle holds a scroll, all surrounded by the inscriptions denoting the nation and the denomination of quarter dollar.
