1901-O Barber Half Dollar Good

0.3575 troy oz .900 1901 Good

Struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, this 1901 Barber half dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Crafted from 90 percent silver with a precious metal weight of 0.3575 troy ounces, the coin carries the distinct 'O' mint mark of the Southern facility. Although the details on this specimen are heavily worn and the rim shows signs of wear, the iconic design elements remain recognizable. Created by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin showcases a profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, surrounded by the motto 'IN GOD WE TRUST' and the 1901 year of issue. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide, protecting a shield on its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner, while its talons grasp an olive branch and a cluster of arrows. The legend 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' and the 'HALF DOLLAR' denomination frame this traditional symbol.
