1901-O Barber Half Dollar VG
Minted at the historic New Orleans facility in 1901, this silver half dollar belongs to the celebrated series designed by Charles Barber. Crafted from 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a fascinating era of American coinage, circulating heavily during the turn of the twentieth century. The front of the coin showcases a profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap paired with a laurel wreath, and the word "Liberty" remains partially visible on her headband. Surrounding her portrait is the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" along with the 1901 year of issue. On the reverse, a powerful eagle dominates the design with its wings spread wide. A protective shield rests upon the bird's chest, while its beak holds a decorative banner. In its talons, the eagle grasps both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing peace and readiness. The inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the "HALF DOLLAR" denomination frame this classic patriotic imagery.
