0.1808 troy oz .900 1901 Very Fine

Struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, this 1901 silver quarter dollar offers a tangible look at American coinage from the turn of the twentieth century. Minted with a silver purity of 90 percent, the coin contains 0.1808 troy ounces of precious metal. This specimen survives in Very Fine condition, preserving the clear details of its classic design for modern observers to appreciate. The obverse presents a profile of Liberty, recognizable by her Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath resting upon her head. The year 1901 is anchored at the bottom, while the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" arches above her portrait. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle commands attention with its wings spread wide. A protective shield covers its chest, and the bird holds a decorative banner in its beak bearing the phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM". In its talons, the eagle grasps both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, representing the dual concepts of peace and strength. The "O" mint mark below the eagle identifies its origin from the Southern minting facility.
