The 1901 Barber dime from the San Francisco Mint tells a story of extensive circulation through its heavily worn surfaces. Struck in 90% silver, this coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. Its current state, graded as Almost Good, shows the significant passage of time and heavy use in daily commerce at the turn of the twentieth century. On the obverse, the design by Charles Barber features the profile of Lady Liberty wearing a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. Due to the extensive wear characteristic of this grade, the word Liberty is no longer visible on her headband, and the outer rim may appear weak or partially merged with the design. The year 1901 is stamped at the bottom, flanked by the legend of the issuing nation. The reverse side displays a traditional agricultural wreath enclosing the face value of One Dime. On these heavily circulated examples, the details of the wreath are quite flat, and the reverse rim shows significant wear. Just below the wreath, the distinct S mint mark indicates this coin was struck at the historic San Francisco minting facility.
